Community guidelines

A brave space requires shared responsibility.

These agreements protect honest expression while helping members avoid deliberate harm, harassment, and unnecessary disruption.

Core agreements

  • Protect confidentiality: what is shared in the group stays in the group.
  • Speak from your own experience using I-statements.
  • Respect different recovery pathways, identities, beliefs, and backgrounds.
  • No bullying, threats, humiliation, harassment, or targeted attacks.
  • No political debate or religious instruction.
  • Do not glorify alcohol, drugs, or harmful behavior.
  • Be aware that detailed descriptions or images may be triggering. Speak your truth without purposely trying to offend or shock others.
  • Ask permission before offering direct advice or crosstalk when the meeting format requires it.
  • Participation is voluntary. Listening is participation.
  • Facilitators may pause or redirect discussion to protect the purpose and safety of the space.
Brave Harbor is a brave space, not a promise that every conversation will feel comfortable. Members are encouraged to protect their boundaries and step away when necessary.
