Community guidelines
A brave space requires shared responsibility.
These agreements protect honest expression while helping members avoid deliberate harm, harassment, and unnecessary disruption.
Core agreements
- Protect confidentiality: what is shared in the group stays in the group.
- Speak from your own experience using I-statements.
- Respect different recovery pathways, identities, beliefs, and backgrounds.
- No bullying, threats, humiliation, harassment, or targeted attacks.
- No political debate or religious instruction.
- Do not glorify alcohol, drugs, or harmful behavior.
- Be aware that detailed descriptions or images may be triggering. Speak your truth without purposely trying to offend or shock others.
- Ask permission before offering direct advice or crosstalk when the meeting format requires it.
- Participation is voluntary. Listening is participation.
- Facilitators may pause or redirect discussion to protect the purpose and safety of the space.
Brave Harbor is a brave space, not a promise that every conversation will feel comfortable. Members are encouraged to protect their boundaries and step away when necessary.
